For my final, I'd like to construct a unit about films and pop culture. Among the most influential films in terms of pop culture references are the Star Wars trilogy, the Sound of Music, Cassablanca, and Gone with the Wind. I'm considering whether I should have a segment of 20+ year old films and a segment of 1990's to today. If I divide it that way, I would want to include Pulp Fiction, the Dark Knight, Napolean Dynomite, and Brokeback Mountain.
I'd be designing it either as a Film Studies class or as a unit within a Media Studies class. I guess I have a lot left to decide, but what I do feel strongly about is the pop culture references / cultural literacy piece. Thanks!
